Leaving Microsoft

What the hell is Azure?

I was panicking.

Frantically, I dove into research, all the while praying the shuttle driver would hit every red light.
(There was only one, it wasn’t red)

Azure. Cloud Computing. IaaS vs. PaaS vs. SaaS. AWS. Distributed Systems.

All foreign words.  I was screwed.

Six hours of interviews. Question after question. Interview after Interview.

A promise of a call with an offer or an email with a rejection.

A call!

It’s hard to believe that day was 8 years ago.

The day my life changed in ways I had no way of comprehending.

New city. New job. New people. New fears. New challenges.

And I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

This is my last week at Microsoft, as I kick off a worldwide trip to chase dreams delayed over the last two years. My time here has been an incredible journey of personal and professional growth, demanding days that pushed me beyond my preconceived limits, and most importantly amazing memories with coworkers, friends, and family that made it so special.

Sincerely, thank you to each and every one who made these last 8 years wonderful.

And for those of you interested in following the trip, I’ll be blogging here each step of the way as I continue to work on my writing, photography and videography (any feedback, pointers, or beta-readers are greatly appreciated)

Next stop: San Diego, Joshua Tree, and Utah National Parks.
